Kluane National Park The Tutchone people named this "place of many fish" Kluane (kloo-AH-nee) and along with Wrangell-St. Elias National Park just across the border in Alaska, this region makes up one of the largest protected wilderness areas on Earth.
Canada's highest point Mt. Logan (19,545 ft. / 959 m) is here as are the largest non-polar ice fields in the world. The northeastern section along the Alaska Highway is easily accessible to backpacking, hiking, fishing, biking, canoeing and much more. For information on getting to the Park from Fairbanks or Haines visit Alaska Direct Bus They make regular runs between Fairbanks, Kluane National Park and Haines, Alaska year round.
Kluane National Park Visitor Reception Center (867) 634-7207 Open 9am - 7 pm in Summer. Located on Logan St. in Haines Jct., Yukon directly on the Alcan Highway. Here you can obtain wilderness & fishing permits, topographical maps, and trail information.
Sheep Mountain Information Centre 9am - 5pm in summer. is located 72 km north of Haines Jct., (toward Alaska) on the Alaska Highway and here you can register for hikes into the northern section of the park.
