Billie's Backpackers Hostel

Ok… we don’t like rules and restrictions either, but there are a few….

Local Residents Policy

This is a travel-focused hostel, and I aim to provide lodging to travelers from afar, most of whom are adventuring in Alaska for the first time. To best meet the needs of these visitors, I do not accept local residents without prior arrangements. I may provide an exception with proof that you are attending a local event or evidence of onward travel.

If you are a local resident, I am happy to direct you toward other lodging options in town.

Cancellation & Changes Policy

This is a small hostel, and it takes time to offer the space to someone else. There is a no charge for cancellations made 48 hours before your check-in day. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours of notice before your arrival day will incur a charge of the full amount of the reservation.

For example, if you are arriving on July 4, then you would need to cancel by the end of the day on July 1st to avoid any charges.
(All times are Alaska Time Zone)
.

Billie is happy to help accommodate you, if possible, with any changes you may require.

Early departures are generally non-refundable, but please let her know if you expect to leave before your departure date and you may discuss it.

You must cancel using the same booking engine that you used to make your reservation (i.e., hostelworld, booking.com, AIRBNB etc.).
If you used the hostel website to make your reservation, then please send an email or call Billie directly.

Payments

You must provide your credit card details in advance to hold your space.  The card may be charged up to 48 hours before your arrival DAY (at which point the reservation becomes non-refundable).   If the card is declined for whatever reason, the reservation will be cancelled without prior notice.

Other

Please, unless you have arranged with me personally, I cannot accept third-party payments or third party reservations.

If you are NOT one of the people arriving on the reservation then you MUST cancel and contact me directly.

Checking In

As you will discover, if you arrive into Fairbanks by air, there are A LOT of “around midnight arrivals.”
If your flight arrives after midnight, please make sure your reservation includes the previous date, or your space will NOT be available until 10am.

For example:  If your flight is landing at 1am on July 4, then your reservation must include July 3rd as well.  Otherwise, you are welcome to check-in at 10am on July 4.

If you are on one of these flights, then let me know so that I may send you late check-in instructions.

Checking Out

IF you have a late departure, you are welcome to hang out at the hostel until your departure or go out and explore the local area.
I am happy to store your things (large and small) for you until it is time to leave.   The hostel is too small for individual lockers, but I do have a locked secure garage, and my own private area to keep things safe for you.

Maximum Stay

As much as I am honored that you wish to stay, unfortunately, the hostel is not set up to accommodate long-term stays. To maximize the number of travelers who have the chance to stay I have a maximum stay of up to 10 days, unless pre-arranged in advance.

Minimum Age and Families

Guests must be 18 years or older to stay in the dorm style rooms (shared rooms).

12 -17 years of age may stay in a PRIVATE room IF accompanied by a parent or guardian during their stay and prior approval from Billie.

Pets

I wish I could allow all of our furry friends, but as this is a shared setting and also my own residence, I do NOT allow pets of any kind.
I do however have a pug named Otis who comes over to visit now and then.  If you’d rather not be around a dog, then this may not be the place for you.

Group Reservations

If you are a group of 5 or more, then please contact Billie directly to make arrangements. The cancellation policy is different for groups and must be made with Billie directly (info@AlaskaHostel.com).
